Although there’s lots to be proud of, some things must change:
- Where you live often dictates which service you receive;
- Not all services work to the same standards;
- There’s duplication;
- Services aren’t well enough connected and don’t always share information to treat people effectively;
- The system is complex – it’s hard to know where to get help;
- Too many end up in hospital when they could be treated at home, or close to home;
- Sometimes we only look at ‘fixing’ illness rather than helping someone achieve their potential and do the things they want to do;
- We’ve seen health in isolation – instead of connecting it to the other things that keep us healthy and well, like where we live, work and how we spend our leisure time;
- The current system is unaffordable in the future.
